David Casalod

David Casalod is involved with Status Plus Conferences since the beginning in 1992. He worked at the company during his secondary school and later on a project basis. Through the years he has built up a large (+10 years) experience in the conference branch. After his Bachelor study International Business and Languages, David worked for a prominent Dutch internet company, initiator on the territory of on-line hotel bookings. He developed a great number of projects independently and learned a lot about the fine pinches of the e-commerce.
In 2001 David founded Casalod Internet Services. He developed various internet applications for the travel and conference industry. The growth of Casalod Internet Services and the good relation with Status Plus Conferences resulted in the merging of both companies in 2004, after which Robert Kessler and David Casalod lead the company as managing partners. In 2006 Robert Kessler became seriously ill and unfortunately his disease lead to his death in November 2008. Because of the illness of Robert Kessler David Casalod is the manager of Status Plus Conferences since in the beginning of 2008.

I have studied Facility Management and because I really liked the working field very much, I decided to choose for a study facility management including work, I have combined the theory of my studies with working in the practice. The first period I have worked as a teamleader of the depertment Housekeeping in a hospital. The second and last period I really wanted a job in which I could use all my skills. A friend of mine brought me in contact with Status Plus. I really liked to work for Status Plus and Status Plus was happy with me as well, so we decided that I could stay. For me it is a challenge to organize a meeting from only the idea until the days of the conference. Every meeting is unique and that makes my work so nice and variable.

After my studies ‘Commercial economy’ I have been working in the catering industry and in hotels. After my latest job in the Novotel City Centre Amsterdam, I was looking for a new challenge where I would be able to make use of my experience and skills. By working for Status Plus I have the possibilities to use my stongest developed skills like arrange things, communication, my knowledge of working in a (meeting) location, hotel, catering industry. Status Plus offers me the possibility to develop further, which is always very important in my opinion. Na mijn studie commerciele economie, heb ik veel werkervaring opgedaan binnen de horeca en het hotelwezen. Status Plus is not a huge company, so when organizing a conference we always have to deal with all parts of the meeting and that makes this work so interesting for me.

Because of the enthusiasm of David about his work, I have worked on my first meeting in 2003 (gyneacology). In the following years I have worked on a lot of conferences not only in the Netherlands but also for international conferences like in Egypt and Argentina (ISSM). But the conferences were just a hobby for me, because my real job was as a youth care worker, so I always had to arrange vacation to be able to work on the meetings. Because I really liked to work with Status Plus and the work really seemed to fit me very well, I decided to change my carrier into full-time job with Status Plus.
I wanted to know more about the preparations for a meeting. My skills are arranging and organizing, to work with structure and communication, those skills are important in organizing meetings and a satisfied client! I really like my work because of meeting and contact with different persons. I am glad that I can also use my creativity in my work. I love to work for Status Plus and I am looking forward to all the meetings that we will organize in the future.
We have built up a network of colleagues through the years, whom we love to work with. We can contact them when we want to make use of their expertise and help. The 2 persons with whom we work on a very regular basis are Pim Sitter and Susan Sitter-Hora Siccama:

Susan has been working on a lot of meetings for Status Plus, she handels the onsite registrations and she is our cashier.
Pim is working for Status Plus for many years as well. He handles the (built up) of the exposition and other logistics during the meetings.
